Wasn't Open House fun? And the Book Fair was totally groovy! Special thanks to all of the families who stopped by the Music room to say hello and play some bells on Thursday night!
Here's what we've been doing in Music this week:
Kindergarten: Our Monday classes did the '5 Little Snowmen' activity, and Friday classes did a lesson on high and low with the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
1st: We have begun learning our songs for the March 8th concert!
1/2 MA- We watched our concert video, then played a major scale on the new bells.
2nd: Mrs. Clark has been working on FORM and instrument families of the orchestra, and we started our music for the March 8th concert! Mrs. Hemme/Smith's class also continued playing the Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra game online.
3rd & 3/4 MA: We continued our review of treble clef note names and played several rounds of Staff Wars!
4th: We are learning about the instrument families of the orchestra, and listened to "Water Music: Hornpipe" by Baroque composer George Frederic Handel. Students learned about the music and architecture of the Baroque period, which was lavish and very ornate.
5th: We are working on music for our April 7th concert, and Mrs. Clark's students are learning about the world of Opera, watching Tourendot by Puccini.
